4-day Itinerary: Private Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga

Your adventure begins at 8:00 AM with pick-up from your accommodation in Marrakech.

We cross the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, enjoying panoramic views and traditional Berber villages along the way. Our first cultural stop is the historic Telouet Kasbah, once home to the powerful Glaoui family and an important stop on ancient caravan routes.

We then continue to the iconic Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. This fortified village is one of Morocco’s most impressive kasbahs and has served as a backdrop for many famous films.

We also head to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa”, to discover the Atlas Film Studios and the impressive Taourirt Kasbah.

Our journey continues through the palm-filled oasis of Skoura, where we visit the beautiful Kasbah Amridil, before driving through the fragrant Rose Valley and along the scenic Dades Valley.

By late afternoon, we reach the dramatic Dades Gorges, famous for its winding roads and towering red rock formations.

Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.

After breakfast, we continue toward the Sahara. We stop at the spectacular Todra Gorges, where massive limestone cliffs rise up to 300 meters. A paradise for photographers and nature lovers.

Our journey takes us through the vast Tafilalt oasis, one of Morocco’s largest date palm regions, before arriving in Erfoud, known for its fossils and desert landscapes.

By afternoon, we reach Merzouga at the edge of the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. Here begins one of the highlights of your trip. A camel caravan will guide you across the dunes, and you’ll be able to admire the sunset painting the Sahara in shades of gold and orange.

At your desert camp, you will enjoy a delicious dinner, live Berber music around the campfire, and a sky full of stars far from city lights.

Spend the night in a comfortable nomadic tent (standard or luxury options available), surrounded by the silence of the Sahara.

Wake early to witness a magical Sahara sunrise over the dunes — a moment you’ll never forget.

After breakfast at camp, ride camels back to the village of Merzouga where your driver awaits. We continue to Rissani, home to one of the region’s most traditional markets, Tafilalte, offering a glimpse into authentic desert life.

From here, we travel through striking landscapes of Zagora, stopping at the village of Tazarine, passing through Taaghbalt, before reaching Hamada, where you will visit the nomads to share a glass of mint tea and learn about their fascinating way of life in the desert.

By evening, we reach Zagora and its vast palm groves, which are part of the magnificent Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest river valley and one of its most beautiful oasis regions. See the sunset before reaching our hotel.

After breakfast, we travel along the lush Draa Valley toward Agdz, dotted with kasbahs and palm groves. We visit Tamnougalt Kasbah, one of the oldest and most impressive fortified villages in southern Morocco.

Continuing to Ouarzazate, we begin our scenic return journey across the High Atlas Mountains. Arrival in Marrakech at the end of the day, with drop-off at your accommodation.
