Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Erfoud – Merzouga Sahara

Your journey begins with pick-up from your accommodation in Fes.

 

Travel south through the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing through Ifrane, known for its alpine-style charm, then continue through Azrou and its cedar forests where Barbary macaques are often seen.

 

After lunch near Erfoud, famous for fossils and date palm groves, continue toward Merzouga at the edge of the golden Erg Chebbi dunes.

 

In the late afternoon, enjoy a camel trek into the dunes for an unforgettable Sahara sunset.

 

Dinner, Berber music around the campfire, and overnight in a desert camp under the stars.

Wake early to witness a magical sunrise over the dunes.

 

After breakfast, enjoy a full day exploring the Merzouga region by 4×4. Visit nomadic families and learn about traditional desert life, stop in Khamlia village to enjoy live Gnawa music, and discover oasis landscapes and hidden corners of the Sahara.

 

This extra day allows you to truly experience the spirit of the desert beyond a simple overnight stay.

 

Later, return to your accommodation in Merzouga. Dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, return by camel (or 4×4) to Merzouga and continue west through changing desert landscapes.

 

Visit Rissani, a traditional market town rich in history and desert heritage, before traveling through oasis scenery toward the spectacular Todra Gorges, where towering rose-colored cliffs rise dramatically up to 300 meters above the valley floor. Enjoy free time to walk through the gorge and admire one of Morocco’s most impressive natural sites.

 

After lunch, continue to the scenic Dades Valley, famous for winding roads, unusual rock formations such as  Monkey Fingers, and traditional villages.

 

Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.

After breakfast, travel through the beautiful Valley of Roses and continue to the palm-filled Skoura Oasis, home to ancient kasbahs and traditional villages.

Continue to Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa,” before reaching the legendary Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most iconic fortified villages.

Enjoy free time to explore and have lunch before crossing the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass.

Arrival in Marrakech in the evening. Overnight stay in a riad or hotel

After breakfast, discover Marrakech with a guided visit of the city’s most famous landmarks.

Explore highlights such as the Koutoubia Mosque, Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, colorful souks, and the lively Jemaa el-Fnaa square.

After the visit, transfer to Marrakech Airport according to your flight schedule.

Is this tour private or shared?

This is a 100% private tour. You will travel only with your own group and driver/guide.

Yes. You can choose between a standard camp (private tent with shared facilities) or a luxury camp (private tent with en-suite bathroom and shower).

Yes. Both standard and luxury camps provide electricity, usually powered by solar energy or generators during certain hours in the evening and early morning. You can charge your phone and camera in your private tent or in the common area. 

Yes, most desert camps offer Wi-Fi in the common area. However, please note that the connection can be slow or limited due to the remote Sahara location. Mobile network coverage (especially Maroc Telecom) generally works in Merzouga and sometimes near the camp, but signal strength may vary. We encourage guests to enjoy the rare opportunity to disconnect, relax under the stars, and fully experience the magic of the Sahara, but you will still be able to stay in touch if needed.
