Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech

Upon arrival at Marrakech Airport, you will be welcomed and transferred to your riad in the heart of the medina.

 

Depending on your arrival time, enjoy free time to relax or begin exploring the lively streets of Marrakech. 

 

Overnight stay in a traditional riad.

 Today, discover the highlights of Marrakech with an experienced local guide.

 

Explore the historic medina and visit some of the city’s most famous landmarks, including Bahia Palace, El Badi Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the Koutoubia Mosque exterior, and Ben Youssef Madrasa.

 

Wander through colorful souks, hidden alleys, and vibrant squares while learning about Marrakech’s fascinating history and culture.

Overnight stay in your riad.

After breakfast, we begin our journey toward the desert.

 

We cross the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass, stopping to admire panoramic views and Berber villages along the way.

 

We visit the historic Telouet Kasbah before continuing to the iconic Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most famous fortified villages.

 

After lunch, we travel through Ouarzazate and the Skoura oasis, where we visit Kasbah Amridil.

 

We then continue through the Valley of Roses and into the scenic Dades Valley.

 

Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.

After breakfast, we continue toward the Sahara Desert.

We stop at the spectacular Todra Gorges, where towering cliffs and palm groves create one of Morocco’s most impressive natural sites.

We then travel through the Tafilalt oasis and Erfoud, known for its fossils and gateway to the desert.

By afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga at the edge of the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi.

Enjoy a camel trek across the dunes at sunset before arriving at camp.

Dinner, Berber music around the campfire, and overnight in a desert tent under the stars.

 

Wake early to witness a magical sunrise over the dunes.

After breakfast, enjoy a deeper exploration of the Merzouga region. Visit nomadic families living in the desert and learn about their traditions and daily life.

Later, enjoy a local specialty lunch, often known as Berber pizza, before visiting the village of Khamlia to experience traditional Gnaoua music.

Return to camp for another peaceful evening in the Sahara.

Dinner and overnight in your desert camp.

 

After breakfast, we begin the scenic journey back to Marrakech.

We stop in Rissani to visit its traditional market before continuing through desert towns and oasis landscapes toward Tinghir and Boumalne.

After lunch, we follow the famous Road of a Thousand Kasbahs toward Ouarzazate.

From there, we cross the High Atlas Mountains once again, arriving in Marrakech in the evening.

Transfer to your hotel or riad.

After breakfast, transfer to Marrakech Airport according to your flight schedule.

Is this tour private or shared?

This is a 100% private tour. You will travel only with your own group and driver/guide.

Yes. You can choose between a standard camp (private tent with shared facilities) or a luxury camp (private tent with en-suite bathroom and shower).

Yes. Both standard and luxury camps provide electricity, usually powered by solar energy or generators during certain hours in the evening and early morning. You can charge your phone and camera in your private tent or in the common area. 

Yes, most desert camps offer Wi-Fi in the common area. However, please note that the connection can be slow or limited due to the remote Sahara location. Mobile network coverage (especially Maroc Telecom) generally works in Merzouga and sometimes near the camp, but signal strength may vary. We encourage guests to enjoy the rare opportunity to disconnect, relax under the stars, and fully experience the magic of the Sahara, but you will still be able to stay in touch if needed.
