Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech – Telouet – Aït Ben Haddou – Skoura – Dades Valley

Your journey begins with 8:00 AM pick-up from your accommodation in Marrakech.

 

We cross the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Along the way, we visit the historic Telouet Kasbah and travel through the beautiful Ounila Valley.

 

Next, we explore the iconic Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most famous fortified villages.

 

After lunch, continue to Ouarzazate where you may visit Atlas Film Studios and Taourirt Kasbah, then head to the Skoura oasis to discover Kasbah Amridil.

 

We continue through the Valley of Roses and arrive in the scenic Dades Valley.

 

Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.

 After breakfast, we continue toward the Sahara Desert.

 

We pass through Boumalne and Tinghir before visiting the spectacular Todra Gorges, where towering canyon walls create one of Morocco’s most impressive natural sites.

 

After lunch, continue through Touroug and Erfoud, known for fossils and date palm groves.

 

By afternoon, we reach Merzouga at the edge of the golden Erg Chebbi dunes.

 

Enjoy a camel trek across the dunes at sunset before arriving at camp.

 

Dinner, Berber music around the campfire, and overnight in a desert tent under the stars.

Wake early to witness a magical sunrise over the dunes.

 

After breakfast, return by camel (or 4×4) to Merzouga and begin the journey north.

 

We pass through Rissani and Erfoud before entering the lush Ziz Valley, famous for palm groves and dramatic scenery.

 

After lunch in Midelt, continue through the cedar forests of Azrou, where Barbary macaque monkeys are often seen.

 

We then pass through Ifrane, Morocco’s alpine-style mountain town, before arriving in Fes.

 

Dinner and overnight stay in a riad or hotel.

Today, discover the cultural capital of Morocco with an experienced local guide.

Explore the ancient medina of Fes, one of the world’s largest car-free urban centers. Visit historic madrasas, artisan quarters, colorful souks, and traditional workshops.

Learn about the city’s fascinating history, architecture, and craftsmanship while wandering through its maze-like streets.

Overnight stay in Fes.

After breakfast, travel north toward the Rif Mountains.

We stop in Meknes to explore the imperial city and visit landmarks linked to Sultan Moulay Ismail.

Next, discover the impressive Roman ruins of Volubilis, one of Morocco’s most important archaeological sites.

By afternoon, arrive in Chefchaouen, the famous Blue City nestled in the mountains.

Dinner and overnight stay in a riad.

 

Enjoy free time in Chefchaouen this morning to wander its blue alleys, charming squares, and artisan shops.

We then travel through the Rif Mountains toward Tetouan for a lunch stop.

Continue to Tangier, where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic. Depending on timing, visit the medina, Cape Spartel, and the Caves of Hercules.

Later, continue to the coastal town of Asilah.

Overnight stay in a riad inside the medina.

 

After breakfast, travel south along the Atlantic coast.

We stop in Rabat, Morocco’s capital, to visit the Hassan Tower and the Kasbah of the Oudayas.

Later, continue to Casablanca, Morocco’s economic capital.

Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.

Before leaving Casablanca, visit the exterior square of the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world.

We then return to Marrakech via the highway.

Is this tour private or shared?

This is a 100% private tour. You will travel only with your own group and driver/guide.

Yes. You can choose between a standard camp (private tent with shared facilities) or a luxury camp (private tent with en-suite bathroom and shower).

Yes. Both standard and luxury camps provide electricity, usually powered by solar energy or generators during certain hours in the evening and early morning. You can charge your phone and camera in your private tent or in the common area. 

Yes, most desert camps offer Wi-Fi in the common area. However, please note that the connection can be slow or limited due to the remote Sahara location. Mobile network coverage (especially Maroc Telecom) generally works in Merzouga and sometimes near the camp, but signal strength may vary. We encourage guests to enjoy the rare opportunity to disconnect, relax under the stars, and fully experience the magic of the Sahara, but you will still be able to stay in touch if needed.

Comfortable clothes, sunglasses, sunscreen, scarf for the wind, warm layers for the evening (especially in winter), and comfortable shoes.
